Baits, Rodenticides Professional rodenticides are formulated with finest ingredients to enhance feeding and hold up to conditions in the field.  Rodent bait blocks are the most popular (over pellets, packs) and are also easier to secure in bait stations or baiters.

California has placed all second generation anticoagulant rodenticides in a restricted use category. [Rodenticides containing Bromadiolone and Brodifacoum are second generation.]
We cannot ship Talon, Contrac or Final rodenticides to California.

Other single feed baits (non anticoagulants), such as Top Gun, Fastrac, and Terad3 are available for shipment to California.

Always place rodenticides in areas where children, pets and non-target animals cannot come into contact with the rodent bait.  Tamper-resistant bait stations not only provide safer placement of  bait, but also protect baits from weather while offering a cozy feeding station for rats and mice.
Moniter baited areas for dead rodents, to reduce the risk of possible secondary kill.

Rodent Bait Stations Rodent bait stations serve more than one function.
Rodenticides stay fresher and last longer when kept in a good bait staion (rodent baiter.)
Rats and mice feel comfortable with the entrance and exit holes, which help lure the rodents inside to feed.
Bait staions offer a sense of security to rodents so that they will feed longer, insuring a lethal dose.
Tamper resistant bait stations help keep rodent baits out of reach of non-target animals.  Bait station lids are easily secured to help keep shut.  They are also designed so that you may secure the station to a fence or post, preventing theft of bait stations.  This also helps to keep large dogs or children from playing with the station.
Even with these safeguards, rodenticides are to be kept out of reach of children and pets at all times.
Baited areas should be inspected for dead rodents which should be removed and disposed of properly.

If rodenticides are not a good fit for your particular job or family, use a Protecta Rat bait station to hide and secure T-Rex Rat Traps.  Rats will enter the bait station and be killed by the trap.

Snap traps can also harm little fingers and paws.  Even glue traps (glue boards) can harm non-target animals.  Keep mouse traps out of reach of children and pets.
Mice have a nest or home; they also have a food source.  Place your mouse control device (trap or bait) in an area between the rodent nest and food source.
For best results, clear area of all possible food sources - which may be the reason the mice are living where they are.  Feeding wild birds and squirrels in a feeder next to your patio or back door will sometimes attract rodents.  Such feeding should stop until mouse infestation has been exterminated.
Even with the very best, professional rodent baits being used, a mouse will many times ignore the mouse bait if it has a tasty, alternative food source.

Safety of family, pets and wildlife should be a major concern when planning a rodent control program.
Mouse baits should be placed in tamper-resistant bait stations.  Bait stations are not expensive, are re-useable and can save the life of a pet or child.
Tamper resistant does not mean tamper proof.  Even with the use of stations, bait placement that is easy for your targeted rodent to find should still be out of reach of children and pets.
Police area daily to pick up and dispose of any dead rodents.
Glue Boards Glue boards are often used to control rodents in sensitive areas where snap traps and rat bait, mouse baits are not allowed.  Glue traps are also used in different rodent management programs to prevent poisoning of non-target animals, wildlife.

Mouse glue boards are generally thin cardboard pieces that are covered in a special glue.  Rat glue trays are thicker and larger, to accomadate larger rodents.  The glue is also thicker on the larger traps.
Traps should be placed our of reach of children and pets but placed in high trafffic areas where rodents are known to travel as the forage for food.

NOTE:  If a pet or child accidentally gets stuck in the glue, there is an easy fix for the problem.  Pour room temperature cooking oil (vegetable oil, etc.) on glue where it is stuck.  Rub the oil into the glue.  As you gently work the oil in, the glue will begin to bead up, allowing release from the glue.
Peanut oil will also work but do not use on a child (or adult) unless you are certain of no peanut allergies.
When in doubt, use vegetable oil.
Oil is also used on snake traps, when friendly snakes or reptiles are caught in the Snake Guard Snake Trap.  Pour oil over snake's body, place Snake Guard Trap in shady area and walk away.  Snakes usually take less than 30 minutes to free themselves from the glue.
